Challenge #15: Be Mine

Good evening everyone. I would like to apologize for posting this weeks challenge so late. I do have a good excuse..... I was at this years winter CHA.  It was my first time attending thanks to a wonderful friend on the Cricut Message Board; Glenda. It was a very fun day. I also had a chance to speak to someone at the Provo Craft booth demonstration area and made it clear to them that we would like upgrades made to the cuttlebug, such as larger embossing folders. I was told that "something is in the works", so lets keep our fingers crossed. In the mean time, lets keep enjoying our little machine and all that it helps us do with our craft.

Ok... this weeks challenge is to create a card for your spouse, significant other, friend, boyfriend...etc you get the picture.  As always, please leave a comment and give us a link to your creations... thank you so much for making this blog so much fun.

Here is our take for this week's challenge

Double embossing with Cuttlebug and nestabilities

Hello everyone. I am so excited to show you this new technique I discovered. It took me a few hours to get it right but I am so proud to show you what I have come up with cuttlebug and nestabilities. . This video tutorial will show you how to leave a blank space for stamping on an embossed paper or card. I will also show you how to then emboss that empty space to make it pop. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think.. send me emails if you have any questions.. Here are 2 different cards I have done with different shapes.

Q and A
I just wanted to take a moment and answer a few questions that have been posted about this tutorial
1. Danelle asked "Why did the oval cut the chipboard but not the card stock?
A: The Tan embossing mat by Spellbinders prevents the nestabilities from cutting through.
2. Nessey asked"What section of OfficeMax is the chipboard located ?"
A: I purchased the chipboard in OfficeMax's copy center, they use it to make custom notepads. I have been told that the back of cereal boxes is the same thickness. I have not tried this. ...but it might work also.
3. Kay Miracle wanted to know where to purchase Nestabilities, Tan Mat and chipboard.
You can purchase the Nestabilities and Tan Mat from various online retailers such as Glenda's Creative Place
4. Allison wanted to know if there is a way to create a narrow frame border abou the the width of the nestie itself
A: I have not tried that yet, that's a great idea.

This week we also have a guest designer Donna Mundinger ......here is some info about Donna

I'm a SAHM to 2 kitties, Goliath and Jezebel and have been married 33 years to a wonderful guy who encourages and indulges my interests. I began making cards in May 2008 with the purchase of a Cricut Expression. Visiting the Cricut message board I soon realized that the Cuttlebug was a must have. I love the rich texture it gives to my projects and I use it alone as well as with my Cricut machine.
